This kind of hospitality is a staple at Willie's, ensuring that every visit feels like a friendly gathering rather than just a meal.
The menu is bursting with flavor and creativity. Standout dishes like the carne asada fries and the renowned green Butcher taco have garnered attention and adoration. Beth S praises the green Butcher taco, saying, “it was my favorite by far! Super tasty! Big and filling!” The homemade chips, guacamole, and salsa are perfect companions, echoing the sentiment of freshness and quality that permeates the menu.
For the burrito lovers, Chris R highlights the value at Willie's, noting how one substantial barbacoa burrito can easily turn into two meals, making it both delicious and economical. “ Went for lunch today with coworkers and every single we got was delicious! The carne asada fries, the tacos, it was all so good. Plus the man helping us at the front was so kind and welcoming! Definitely added to our lunch spot rotation! ”
“ I walked to Willie’s from my hotel on Van Buren street. It’s just .6 miles away. It’s a 15 minute walk. I ordered the chicken taco, shrimp taco, and the green Butcher taco with some chips, guacamole and salsa. I only ordered the green butcher because it was listed on the menu as a favorite and I can 100% agree with that opinion! It was my favorite by far! Super tasty! Big and filling! The chips, salsa, and guacamole are all freshly homemade and delicious! I was able to eat 2 out of the 3 tacos, and less than half of the chips and salsa. They all made great leftovers for the next day. The restaurant was empty except for a lone guy who actually looked like Willy Nelson who appeared to be writing music. The only thing I didn’t like about the restaurant was the street noise. It’s right off of the street and open aired. The restaurant has no control over it, but the loud mufflers in this city are SO annoying! The city really needs to do something about this issue! It’s awful. Prices are reasonable. After tax and tip my bill was about 35 for one person, but like I said, it turned into two meals. Definitely would go back for happy hour and order the green butcher again. ”
“ Had a barbacoa burrito for 14. And a bean and cheese burrito for 9 with added carnitas for 5.50. I prefer the bean and cheese burrito with carnitas because it didn't have onions or cilantro or anything like that. The barbacoa burrito had onions. One burrito, or scratch that, one burro is enough for two meals. ”
“ Great food amazing blend of spices! Very authentic for being downtown! Loved every bite, forgot to take a picture LOL definitely worth stopping by if you're in there area. The staff was extremely friendly and super helpful! Good Vibes all the way around yay ”
“ Cool place to stop and hang out before or after a show or sporting event. I really enjoyed the chips and guacamole with a side of nacho cheese sauce. I had the green taco and it was amazing. Eliote’ bites rocked too. Definitely will be stopping in next trip downtown. ”
“ I was on my way to the shed to get supplies before work and to meet up with Mike Lopez when my ever growing belly said it's time to eat. I must have passed the place a hundred times in my travels down town while the friendly skeleton invited me over so that day I went to him. I was greeted at the counter by one of the servers and asked as I always do what's good on the menu. Suddenly Mrs Coral spoke up and said ,,,"You want the Zig Zag Taco Plate and that'll take care of breakfast and lunch, and make sure you try all our sauces.,," I ordered the meal with a super duper surprise of a whole fire roasted pablano peppers the taco with the juiciest meat. I ordered a Dr Pepper and sat outside beside the cooling misters that dusted the coustmers with coolness. While I was checking out the sauces I saw a healthy meal in the window and asked Coral if it was mine. She quickly told me no, and it was hers then she offered me a sample. After trying the samples of sauces and enjoyable meals I went on to tackle my day. So folks please visit this wonderful place and say hello to the team and Mrs Coral. ”
